Mgr. Martin Doucha
Martin graduated from the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University in Brno and since January 2013 is the attorney‑at‑law registered at the Czech Bar Association.
Between 2007 – 2020, Martin worked as a lawyer in BBH. In May 2020, he concluded his position of the leading lawyer in BBH and joined STRNAD JOCH LOKAJÍČEK advokáti s.r.o.
Martin handles the general legal agenda and as a result of wide scope of legal practice he is able to provide the clients with complex legal services using the synergy of his experiences from contractual and transactional law (M&A), on one side, and litigations, on the other side, as well as experiences on the field of competition law, insolvency law and intellectual property law.
Amongst notable M&A projects in which Martin was involved, the following may be mentioned: establishment of Energetický a průmyslový holding, a.s. (EPH) and its subsequent restructuring, acquisition of several energetic companies by ČEZ a. s. and its subsidiary ČEZ ESCO, a.s., complex representation of the client within the acquisition, the operation and the sale of the most modern multifunctional stadium in the Czech Republic (Eden Stadium) or establishment of a joint‑venture between Česká pojišťovna a.s. and the investment broker ZFP akademie, a.s.
From meaningful disputes in which Martin provided clients with his legal services may be highlighted the following: successful representation of O2 Czech Republic a.s. while defending against the claim in amount CZK 12 billion arising from allegedly prepared telecommunication projects by Slovak company BELL TRADE s.r.o., representation of Home Credit, a.s. in disputes on the interpretation of arbitration clauses and on the validity of arbitration awards, legal counseling to O2 Czech Republic a.s. within its defense against alleged margin squeeze on the market of broadband internet connection, representation of Česká pošta, s.p. (Czech national postal services provider) in unfair competition disputes with alternative postal services providers or legal counseling within disputes on use of “ŠKODA” trademarks between significant business groups.
Martin also provided the legal representation to creditors in following notable insolvency proceedings: representation of Citibank N.A. exercising a claim exceeding CZK 10 billion within insolvency proceedings against OKD, a.s. or representation of the energy supplier Amper Market, a.s. within insolvency proceedings against Energie pod kontrolou, obecně prospěšná společnost (EPK) lodging a claim in amount ca. CZK 90 million.
